How to create an Instagram Link page in Squarespace

Did you know you don’t need to use a third party such as LinkTree to create a links page on Instagram?
You can create one right on your website!

This can save you so much time (and money!) by hosting this page within your existing website. Plus, you can always keep it up to date easily and efficiently. The best part of it all? Your customers and page visitors will always stay on your website. They aren’t turning to another online location!

The process to create this page for your own website is simple. View the IGTV tutorial below or follow the steps outlined here!

Creating an Instagram Link Page

STEP ONE

Create a new page under “Not Linked.”

STEP TWO

Since this page will only ever be seen on mobile devices, you can turn on the “mobile” view at the top of your screen so you can see what it will look like.

STEP THREE

Add your content to the page! Not sure what to put? Here’s a quick checklist of what I suggest a links page should always have!

  • Your photo: A visual reminder of whos website they’re on and a way to set the tone for your brand and what they can expect!

  • Welcome message: Whether it’s just a quick “welcome I’m glad you’re here!” or a tagline so the viewer knows what you’re all about.

  • Button to website homepage: This is something that always bugs me on link pages when I can’t find a link to just go to the homepage! I always keep mine up top.

  • Your latest offerings: Link to your services, a quiz, a newsletter sign up - where you want people to go! You want to guide the viewer easily on how to work with you.

  • Link to your blog or shop: Because, duh!

  • Link to your about page: I keep this one towards the bottom, but still accessible from the links page!

  • A way to contact you: A link to your contact page, link to directly email or a pop up contact form!

You can always be updating and adding new buttons to this page when you have a new launch or sign up so you can easily send people to your “link in bio” and they will see exactly what they are looking for!

BONUS TIP!

Want all your buttons to be the same length no matter the amount of words?

  • Navigate to your Custom CSS (in 7.0 this will be in the DESIGN menu, in 7.1 it will be in DESIGN > SITE STYLES)

  • Copy and paste in the code below

  • Replace the “#collection-” id with the id of YOUR page

  • To find your ID:

    • Open your website in a new window

    • Right click anywhere on the page and choose “INSPECT” or “VIEW SOURCE”

    • A bunch of scary code will pop up - don’t panic! Hit COMMAND + F to search the code and search for “<body”

    • You will find a string of numbers that will say something like “id="collection-5fd993689b64832a4a9d544c""

    • Copy and paste that into my code below and keep the hashtag (#) in front of it!

Alternatively, you could use the Squarespace Collection/Block Identifier Chrome plugin!

#collection-5c9387a7c83025f04d0414d0 {
.sqs-block-button .sqs-block-button-element {
width: 200px !important;
}}
